Easy And Tasty 7 Cups Burfi

One of the favourite things which I remember about my childhood is the 7 cups burfi which my mom used to prepare. Whenever I felt like having sweets, I would ask her to prepare this burfi. It is our family's all time favourite sweet. My mother used to say, 7 cups and Mysore pak are close cousins. But compared to Mysore pak, 7 cups burfi is easy to prepare as we don't need to check the sugar syrup consistency.
This sweet can be made for any festival or celebration. You can also prepare it if some guests are visiting your house, the preparation and cooking time for the burfi is 15-20 minutes. The name of the sweet is originated due to the addition of 7 cups of ingredients in equal proportion. The measuring cup can be of any size.
As the quantity of the ingredients is fixed, the recipe is easy to remember. It can be tried by the beginners as well and the chances of failure is very less. I prepare it for my daughter, and it has become her favourite too.
Recipe:
Ingredients
  • 1 cup gram flour
  • 1 cup ghee
  • 1 cup dry coconut(grated)
  • 1 cup dry fruits (raisins and cashew nut)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups sugar
Procedure
  • Take a thick bottom pan, keeping the flame on low, mix all the ingredients well .(No need to roast the gram flour separately)
  • Break the lumps if any.
  • Stir continuously till the mixture thickens.
  • The mixture starts to bubble, keep stirring.
  • After a while, the mixture starts to separate from the pan and forms one big lump.
  • Transfer it to a tin or a plate, greased with ghee.
  • Cut it into pieces with a greased knife while it is still hot.
  • Serve it once it cools completely.
People with sweet tooth can increase the sugar quantity to 2 and a half cups or 3 cups by reducing the quantity of either dryfruits or coconut. Treat your family with this lip smacking sweet. And let me know in the comment section, how it turned out and what is your way of preparing 7 cups burfi?
