Destiny

He gently touched the gold medal hanging around his neck. Tears rolled down his cheeks.

Akash was training for Olympics when he was diagnosed with cancer in his lower spinal cord and surgery left him paralysed. Bedridden for three long years, he decided to fight back and soon overcame the tragic incident in a spectacular manner. Wheelchair bound, he began intensive training once again and did not let his disability hold him back.

Today he felt it's destiny that got him medal in Paralympics wheelchair racing instead of Olympics athletics. As the Indian flag raised high, he saluted with pride.
